Clarence Gooden The Quest For Excellence

Over the last few years, there has been a lot of talk about the environment and what can be done to ensure that future generations are able to live in a clean and healthy world without pollution, dirty carbons, emissions, and so on.  With all these concerns the spotlight for clean energy and trying to reduce the use of carbon emissions in the air has become a priority for many. Understanding the need to educate the public on the benefits of transporting goods by rail is Executive Clarence Gooden.
Clarence is currently the president of CSX Corporation based in Jacksonville, Florida, over the course of many years he has had many different titles and responsibilities. He has over 45 years of experience in the rail industry knowing everything from A to Z. He is someone who lives and breathes rail 24 hours a day, always trying to find ways to improve and perfect the way things are done. He believes that there is a great future in the railroads and moving goods across North America by rails is the best option.
CSX Corporation is one of the leaders in transportation suppliers in the United States, operating several rail and intermodal business subsidiaries with coverage of more than 21,000 route miles of track, connecting 70 river, ocean and lake ports, covering 23 states in the U.S. the District of Columbia, and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.  Having worked in a variety of positions in different areas makes his job as president much easier when dealing with issues that may arise since he is familiar with the inner workings of each department.
As Executive Clarence Gooden treats his employees and all his clients with respect, dignity and honesty, listening to their ideas and concerns.  He firmly believes that treating people the way he would want to be treated, is the right thing to do. Within a 10 year period, Clarence has led the company’s sales and marketing operations as CSX were considered as one of the top freight rail and logistics providers in the United States.
With his focus on improving the customer experience, he is overseeing updates being made to the ShipCSX logistical tools along with promoting user education, helping the customers get the most from the CSX accounts.  Communicating is very important to him which is why he encourages regular contact with clients by offering regular updates by email, quarterly eBusiness newsletters as well as social media connections. In fact, with his leadership CSX was the first freight rail and logistic company to host an eBusiness Customer Forum which attracts up to 200 clients each year to workshops that focus on the ability to track, monitor and plan client shipments with tools such as ShipCSX.
With that said, Clarence is also involved by sitting on the boards of TTX Corporation, the Federal Reserve Transportation Advisory, and the National Freight Transportation Association, just to name a few. He also is an active speaker at rail industry and market-oriented conferences. He also serves as a board member for the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art and St. Vincent’s Hospital as well being a big supporter of the American Heart Association. When not working,  he enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and daughter.
